FAQs

Have questions?

We've added the questions we hear most often here.  Feel free to email us at info@allezfencingclub.com as well for more information.

What ages can try fencing?

Kids 7 and up, teens, and adults of all ages! We place you in an age-appropriate session so you learn with peers.

What should I wear / bring?

Wear comfortable athletic clothes, long pants or leggings, and clean sneakers. Bring a water bottle. We provide all fencing gear and equipment.

What happens during the class?

Our coaches will be here to welcome you and fit you for gear. Classes start with an introduction to the equipment, safety norms, and basic rules. A fun warm-up, footwork, and foundational blade skills are followed by short, fully supervised mini-bouts with your classmates.

How long are the free trial sessions?

Classes are 60 minutes for kids 12 and under, 90 minutes for teens and adults. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early so that we can check you in and get you fitted.

Do I need to be "in shape"?

All fitness levels are welcome. As with any new sport, if you have an existing injury or condition, just check with your physician.

Is fencing safe? Does it hurt?

Fencing is one of the safest of all Olympic sports. You will be fully geared with a fencing mask, jacket, protective glove, and (age/size-appropriate) protective layers. Beginners practice with light, coach-guided actions—no hard hits.

Can parents watch?

Yes, we have seating and a viewing area. You’re also welcome to ask the coach questions before/after class.

Can a friend / sibling join?

Absolutely! Fencing is best with friends. Just ensure you reserve multiple trial spots so we can manage the class sizes appropriately.

What should I expect after the trial?

Your coach will suggest the next steps and answer questions about schedules and pricing - no pressure! Most fencers typically progress from the free trial session into our 4-week Learn to Fence program and we can discuss what makes sense for you.
