Meet the Founders Part 1: Coaching Roots and Competitive Spirit — Mark Elbag
Meet Mark Elbag, head coach and co-founder of Allez Fencing Club. Learn about his inclusive coaching philosophy and 20+ years of helping fencers grow into confident, authentic athletes.

Hi, I’m Mark—head coach and co-founder of Allez FencingClub.

I’ve been coaching fencing for over two decades, and it’s still the most rewarding part of my life. I’ve worked with beginners taking their first steps on the strip, and I’ve trained athletes preparing for national competitions. What I love most is helping people find their style, build confidence, and push themselves in ways they didn’t know they could.

Coaching That Meets You Where You Are

No two fencers are the same. Some are analytical, others intuitive. Some love the intensity of competition, others find joy in daily practice. My job is to adapt to each athlete—whether you’re 9 or 49—and help you develop the technical and mental tools you need to grow.

I’m a big believer in the value of structure, repetition, and good habits. But I also know that for growth to happen, people need to feel safe, seen, and supported. That balance is something I care deeply about.

Competitive Focus When It’s Needed

While I coach all levels, I also work closely with serious competitors. I love the detail and focus that comes with high-level training—fine-tuning footwork, sharpening decision-making, and helping athletes build the mindset to compete under pressure. If you’re working toward big goals, I’m here to help you get there.

Allez is the club I always hoped to be part of. I’m proud of what we’re building—and I’m excited to share it with you.
