Level 1 Learn to Fence

The Level I Épée class is designed for students with little to no fencing experience who are ready to build a strong foundation. This twice weekly class focuses on developing footwork, building tactical awareness, and introducing structured bouting.

Age Group

The Youth Level I program is designed for children ages 7 to 12.

Do I need to be a member of the club to take a group class at Allez?

Yes, you do need to be a member to take group classes. However, members enjoy a discount on the private lesson fee plus access to open fencing and use of the gym. Contact us for more information about a club membership.

Do I need my own equipment?

At Level 1, we can offer the use of our equipment for class. However, we recommend that fencers begin to purchase their own gear as they progress through Level 1. We can help with this.

How many classes do I need to attend?

When you sign up for Level 1, you should plan on attending two, 60-minute classes per week. We have multiple sessions per week to choose from so you can pick and choose which sessions to attend. However, we recommend sticking to a regular schedule so you can build relationships with the other class attendees.

How do I get started?

The best way to get started is to contact us to set up a meeting with our head coach so he can assess which level is right for you and your development. Contact us to make an appointment.
