Two young fencers practicing épée in full gear during a youth beginner fencing class, facing off in a light-filled indoor studio.

Level 1

The Level I Épée class is designed for students who have completed the Learn to Fence program and are ready to build on foundational skills. This twice-weekly class focuses on refining footwork, developing tactical awareness, and introducing structured bouting.

Age Groups

We have two different Level 1 classes based on age. One for ages 10 and younger and one for ages 11-15. However, placement also takes into account size and skill level.

Do I need to be a member of the club to take a group class at Allez?

Yes, you do need to be a member to take group classes. However, members enjoy a discount on the private lesson fee plus access to open fencing and use of the gym. Contact us for more infomration about a club membership.

Do I need my own equipment?

At Level 1, we can still offer the use of our equipment for class. However, we recommend that fencers begin to purchase their own gear as they progress through Level 1. We can help with this.

How many classes do I need to attend?

When you sign up for Level 1, you should plan on attending two, 60-minute classes per week. We have multiple sessions per week to choose from so you can pick and choose which sessions to attend. However, we recommend sticking to a regular schedule so you can build relationships with the other class attendees.

How do I get started?

The best way to get started is to contact us to set up a meeting with our head coach so he can assess which level is right for you and your development. Contact us to make an appointment.
