Discover the Olympic sport of fencing in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment right in Watertown, MA!
Looking for a fun, challenging sport that builds focus, coordination, and confidence? Allez Fencing Club’s Learn to Fence (LTF) program is the perfect introduction to épée fencing—designed for complete beginners, with no experience or equipment required.
Our 8-week beginner fencing course teaches students the fundamentals of movement and blade control through structured, hands-on lessons. You'll learn footwork (advances, retreats, lunges) and blade work (parries and ripostes), all in a supportive, community-focused environment.
We provide all fencing gear, including an épée, mask, glove, jacket, and underarm protector. Just bring athletic clothes, water, and a readiness to move!
To ensure every student feels comfortable and challenged, we offer three separate class tracks:
Each group progresses together, creating a shared journey that builds both skills and friendships.
At the end of the 8 weeks, students participate in a friendly mini-competition with classmates to test their skills in real fencing bouts. It’s a fun, low-stress way to apply what they’ve learned, celebrate progress, and cheer on their friends.
From there, students advance together into our next-level beginner class—continuing their fencing development as a cohesive cohort.
We want every student to feel confident before committing. That’s why the first class is free—a no-pressure trial to experience fencing firsthand. If you love it (and most do), you can enroll in the full program.
