Beginner Fencing Classes for Kids, Teens, and Adults

Looking for a fun, challenging sport that builds focus, coordination, and confidence? Allez Fencing Club’s Learn to Fence (LTF) program is the perfect introduction to épée fencing—designed for complete beginners, with no experience or equipment required.

What Is the Learn to Fence Program?

Our 8-week beginner fencing course teaches students the fundamentals of movement and blade control through structured, hands-on lessons. You'll learn footwork (advances, retreats, lunges) and blade work (parries and ripostes), all in a supportive, community-focused environment.

We provide all fencing gear, including an épée, mask, glove, jacket, and underarm protector. Just bring athletic clothes, water, and a readiness to move!

Age-Based Beginner Fencing Classes

To ensure every student feels comfortable and challenged, we offer three separate class tracks:

  • Y10 (Ages 7–10): Playful, focused introduction to fencing basics
  • Y12–Y14 (Ages 11–15): Skill-building and coordination for tweens and young teens
  • Junior–Senior (Ages 16+ and Adults): Welcoming and energetic classes for teens and adults

Each group progresses together, creating a shared journey that builds both skills and friendships.

End-of-Session Mini-Competition

At the end of the 8 weeks, students participate in a friendly mini-competition with classmates to test their skills in real fencing bouts. It’s a fun, low-stress way to apply what they’ve learned, celebrate progress, and cheer on their friends.

From there, students advance together into our next-level beginner class—continuing their fencing development as a cohesive cohort.

Try Fencing for Free

We want every student to feel confident before committing. That’s why the first class is free—a no-pressure trial to experience fencing firsthand. If you love it (and most do), you can enroll in the full program.
